Green Stuff

All acts are UK-based, resulting in fewer miles travelled to reach the festival and zero use of air transport.

In 2008 2000trees joined the likes of Glastonbury and Latitude Festivals in winning the “A Greener Festival” award. According to AGreenerFestival.com, “all the award winners have demonstrated the ability to promote environmental efficiency and sustainability and that they have coherent green policies covering greenhouse gas emissions, traffic and transport, waste management, recycling, protecting the environment and water management.”

The following green policies / actions are in place:

Recycling
2000trees has a comprehensive on-site recycling and composting scheme and in 2009 we had the highest percentage recycling rate at any UK Festival.

Food & Drink
The majority of the food and drink at 2000trees is locally produced and served in either reusable or biodegradable (corn starch) containers.

Power & Lighting
This is produced using locally-sourced chip-fat biodiesel, which is significantly better than any petro-chemical alternative; and in 2012 ensured that 2000trees saved over 4.5 tonnes of carbon.

Coach / train travel
There is a coach service to and from London and also a shuttle service between 2000trees and Cheltenham train station. Click here for further details.

Car park charge
There is no escaping the fact that the single biggest source of carbon emissions for any festival comes from car travel. Thus after much thought, we have come to the difficult decision to impose a £5 car parking charge at 2000trees (payable on arrival at the site). Of course we are keen to acknowledge the effort that some of you make to share lifts, and we have therefore decided that cars with four or more guests will be exempt from the charge.

Fear not, this is not some cynical money making scheme on our part, the majority of the proceeds are being used to subsidise an improved shuttle bus service from Cheltenham train station (which will dovetail with national rail connections and also operate at a frequency and price which will make the service a preferable alternative to using local taxis). The remainder of the revenue will then be used to improve the site infrastructure to allow for a broader national coach service.

Artists
2000trees policy is that all acts are UK-based, resulting in fewer miles travelled to reach the festival and zero use of air transport.
