Your favourite memory

Postby admin » Mon Jan 28, 2008 5:16 pm

I have some great ones to look back on, but what tops the list for me is Beans on Toast's performance on the Acoustic stage on Saturday. The place was packed, everyone pissed and laughing and Jay's songs. The atmosphere was so positive and happy that the only thing that could dampen the mood was Beans leaving the stage. (Which might have contributed to his 4 encores!!)

No doubt many of you will mention the Air Baloon with the Sunset or the fighting Hippos/Moonmins (i like to think of them as either Hippomins or Moopos) but I missed both of those things, :(

Lets hear what the rest of your memories are. Best story gets a free beer at the bar! Can't say fairer than that.

the pink sunset during brigades set could not be beaten - especially when the hot air balloon came over! - i'd love to have seen the view from up there!

brian james thanking me from the stage was a bit of a buzz too!!

obviously the sunset was ace...

Frank Turner - the guy's a legend...

beans was better than ever, and had so many people wathcing him the atmosphere was perfect...

best of all though was just wandering from tent to tent on the saturday night, just seeing that a maverick new festival had happened and everyone had had a total blast and just everyone was sharing a really cool vibe. god i sound like a hippy!

bring on 08... 8-)

well mines on a personal level- but it was pissing down with rain when i got there with our mates and bless my Tammi the tent (yes i named her she has been everywhere with me!) i was putting her up and it wasn't easy believe me! got the inner part up which didn't look too healthy - threw on the outer waterproof part and got my first peg ready with the mallet- tap, bang- RIPPPPPPPPPP a big hole appears down the side of my tent - it was rotton! ok so i had duck tape - but it was raining and windy and wouldnt stick anything so after a struggle i reached for the second peg and went for the other corner............ you guessed it RIPPPPPPPPP a massive hole in the top so that was it i was off to tesco to get a new tent - we did fix tammi and she was our communal tent for our time there- fixed with a massive clear plastic sheet - i also remember some very drunk guy coming in the tent when there was a downpour and noone knew who he was- im sure he was still there the next morning!

RIP TAMMI!!

Loads of good memories from the amazing fest last year. Heres a few personal ones.

Coming back after using the legandary portaloos at about 2 in the morning, started to unzip my tent to get in when I saw the shoe mat outside my tent and thought " I don't remember bring a shoe mat... oh wait. sorry! wrong tent!"

Seeing the nakedness of Hallagoogoo was pretty.. erm.. different. Never borrow the drummers socks is a lesson for you all. We all know where they have been.

Never wear a t shirt that says "Make Music Not Missiles" as you can gaurantee someone who has had a bit too much badger's bottom will hold you in a debate whether my t shirt is correct.

Don't leave your only tiolet roll outside when it rains : /

Too many glorious double choc hot chocolate with marshmellows. Im sure there addictive.

The extra posh festival food one of our guys brought with him. While the rest of us wer stuck with beans and crisps he was dining on goose patte on on a french stick and the strangest "continental breakfast", croissants with cold hot dogs. Its now been renamed the "Festival brekkie"

Having a good ol' sing song around the DIY camp fire (not a real fire don't worry organisers, just an electric lamp in the middle of our lot) when a drunk / stoned, not quite sure which came up to us and said "oh is that a guitar, let me have a play. I've never played before but iv always wanted to" as he strums the correct chords to sing along classics. You know the ones. We also made a song up about the snack "cheesy balls" and whether or not its unnatural to have three :D

Of course the best one has to be the magical moment when everyone was saoking wet and EXTREMELY muddy but still managed to keep the heart to sing along along to Frank Turner doing an Abba cover, though my memory is poor so I can't remeber which one he did. Possibly Dancing Queen.

Nice one guys for making it such a memorable first music festival for me :D
