2000TREES POSTPONED UNTIL 2021

OK legends, it’s finally time to call it. We tried for as long as possible to stay optimistic, but unfortunately, we have had to take the incredibly tough decision to postpone 2000trees until July 8th-10th 2021.  After 13 years, we really can’t comprehend a summer without 2000trees & we’re truly gutted.

The good news is that all tickets will automatically be valid for next year’s event and if you already have your ticket, you do not have to do anything to reserve your place at 2000trees 2021. Your existing ticket is now your ticket to 2021.

As a small business that’s been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, we really need as many people as possible to roll their tickets to next year, just so we can keep paying our staff and secure the long term survival of 2000trees.

BACKGROUND TO 2000TREES


First off, we just wanted to shed some light on 2000trees as a business, and how festival finances in general work, because it may not be immediately obvious to everyone reading.

We (Andy, Bren, James, Mark, Rob & Si) set up 2000trees in 2007 as a direct reaction to all the monster corporate festivals.  We wanted to create something smaller, more beautiful & more fun than the mega fests. We hope you agree that we pretty much smash this goal every year, with many people (ourselves included), saying it’s their favourite weekend of the year.

Each July for the last 13 years, come hell or high water, we have put on the festival without ever needing to postpone or cancel.  Alas, these are unprecedented times and the world is suddenly a very different place thanks to Covid-19. 

WHY POSTPONE NOW?


The decision to postpone wasn’t taken lightly and is sincerely the last thing we wanted to do. We were still hopeful of going ahead until a few days ago; however, it has become increasingly clear that the current situation isn’t going away anytime soon and the health & safety of our guests, staff & the wider community at large has to come first.

Even after 13 years we are still a proudly independent business.  We as a core organiser team do not pay ourselves a salary unless the festival goes ahead and makes a profit.  We are still just 6 music-loving chaps who want to put on an amazing festival and party with 10,000 likeminded individuals.

FESTIVAL FINANCES


In case you’ve ever wondered, the majority of UK festivals (unless they have big corporate sponsors) are small independent businesses without massive cash reserves. As we said above, festival organisers usually don’t get paid unless the event goes ahead & makes money.  Most of the profits come from the bars and food traders (i.e. not from ticket sales).  If you were curious to know the details, it costs us well over a million pounds every year to host 2000trees Festival and a big chunk of these costs are paid well in advance of the festival, and thus have to come from ticket income.

What happens at the majority of festivals is that someone buys a ticket to the festival and that money is used straight away to pay a whole host of costs, such as staff payroll, online & press advertising, and supplier deposits etc. The majority of these are “sunk costs” which we can’t get back and what’s worse, our insurance won’t pay out on an event postponement due to Covid-19.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP


Due to all the above, we’re asking everyone to roll their tickets over to the 2021 festival.

Not only will you get next year’s tickets at this year’s prices, we promise that next year’s festival will be the best edition of 2000trees yet.

INSTALMENT TICKETS


Instalment ticket holders must successfully make their final payment in June/ July for their tickets to be valid for a roll-over. You don’t need to do anything at this point, we’ll email you separately in June/ July to send you your tickets to 2021. But if you want to cancel your payments in the meantime & start them up again later in the year that is also totally fine. BUY NOW PAY LATER TICKETS

If you have a Buy Now Pay Later deposit ticket, these will automatically be rolled over to next year. Simply transfer your ticket to a full price ticket at any time between now & the festival next year.

REFUNDS


If you can’t make next year’s dates we will happily roll your ticket to 2022. If you can’t make either date, then you can request a full refund below (minus booking fees). Please select the relevant link for your ticket type below & we’ll be in touch shortly.
